The Halloween Loot
It may surprise you, but I use to sneak a few Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or Peanut M&Ms from my kid’s loot. Well… I did give them a heads up that it may happen. Peanut butter and chocolate is my ultimate weakness when it comes to Halloween Candy. Those perfect little bite sized packs, what’s one going to do? Problem is, once I ate one, it would quickly turn into 3-4. YIKES.
Sugar is Addictive
It’s no longer a secret that sugar is bad for you: obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, dementia, stroke, depression. Yet despite it’s bad reputation millions struggle to give up their cookies, cake, candy, ice cream and sugary drinks.
It’s not just that we love sugar and sweet tastes, it’s that we’re hooked. Sugar can alter your metabolism and brain chemistry causing us to suffer intense cravings.
In one study by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, obese men were given milk shakes that contained equal amounts of nutrients and calories, but half of the participants got shakes with high-fructose corn syrup while the other half received shakes with low-glycemic cornstarch. After drinking the shakes, the corn syrup group reported feeling much hungrier than the other other group and in turn ended up eating a lot more later on.
Each group were given brain scans, which showed the corn syrup group had increased blood flow in the nucleus accumbens, the part of the brain that regulates cravings, rewards and addictive behaviors. This is the same part of the brain that also responds when alcoholics drinks, gamblers walk into a casino or when a drug user uses cocaine. When the reward center in our brain lights up, it reinforces the desire for that stimuli and over time increases cravings and leads to addictive behavior.

Improve Your Health Rapidly by just Quitting Sugar
Sugar is everywhere and anywhere, and its effects on our brain chemistry are so powerful, that breaking free of its grip can be enormously difficult. But here’s some motivation: As soon as you quit sugar, your health will improve rapidly. In fact, it takes just ten days without sugar to see substantial metabolic and neurological improvement according to a study published in the journal Obesity, sponsored by the National Institute of Health. During the study, after only 10 days, they found that not only did the group lose weight and decrease their blood sugar and blood pressure; they also experienced a 62 percent reduction in all symptoms from all diseases in just 10 days.
The 10 Day Sugar Detox
So many people are addicted to sugar, which leads to many health issues as we know. In my practice, many of my clients with digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, foggy brain, and skin issues had one thing in common; they were all addicted to sugar. And this is the reason I created this simple and effective sugar detox. Even if your relationship with sugar isn’t quite that extreme, a sugar detox can benefit you by helping you reduce insulin resistance and basically give your body a break from the roller coaster of blood sugar spikes and dips.
